It was a short drive to Freycinet National Park. we did the walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout and down to the beach. It is only 6klm but involves a steep climb up to the lookout and a steep decent on a rough track down to the beach.
On the way up to the lookout Margy got this nice shot of a wallaby, on the drive in we narrowly missed one on the road, unexpected as it was mid-morning.
The steep track up to Wineglass Bay lookout winds through spectacular giant granite boulders, among stunted gum trees clinging to cracks in the rock.
At the top, the track plummets down to the beach over rocks and gnarly tree roots through old growth forest untouched for thousands of years. It is a stunning landscape whichever way…
